Ronny David is an Israeli fine art photographer who began photographing fifty years ago. Greatly inspired by the desert landscape of Israel, David’s photographic philosophy has been to point the camera to subjects that in turn point back onto himself, metaphorically speaking. The result is a photographic language that resonates in a poetic and expressive way. While the photographs serve a deeply personal role for David, the audience is invited to experience these stunning sights through the photographer’s eye.
David’s early exposure to photography proved a seminal point in his life and started him on a lifelong passion. His studies focused on technical and scientific photography, but eventually David decided to pursue art at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He also studied philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has taught photography at a number of institutions including the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. Since 2000, he has been coordinating the Jerusalem Photography Club, a community group that provides discussions on photography, critiques of work, and generally advances the subject of photography. Over the years his work has been featured in both solo and group exhibitions.
Today, David runs his own photography and graphics studio.
